Rest assured, NO telemarketing company will ever be specifically set up to call cell phones. This is because it’s illegal. I know, because I’m a professional telemarketer.
When calling on companies, once in a while a secretary or office personnel will offer a cell phone number in order for me to reach the prospect. But I then politely refuse, and inform them that we are not allowed to call cell phones.
On rare occasions,I’ve discovered that my call has taken me to a cell phone. For example, this happens when a prospect or customer has given it to us in the past, not realizing that we weren’t allowed to call it, then not telling us that it was indeed a cell phone. So during my call when I discover this (again, this seldom happens), I immediately apologize and tell them that I’m not supposed to call cell phones, and I ask if there is another phone number that they would prefer that I call to reach them. If they say it’s okay, that it’s their main business phone anyway, I still tell them no-thank-you, that I appreciate their kind offer, but I will mark it as a “wrong number” then put in my notes that it was a cell phone number. Then I immediately end the call.
I try to treat others the way I would want to be treated. Therefore, I would definitely not want telemarketing companies calling my cell phone, and then I get charged for it! That is wrong. But this is not a perfect world, so once in a while mistakes happen. And when they do, I do the right thing and correct them, which is what I was trained to do by my supervisors.
The last thing a telemarketing company wants to do is to put themselves out of business! So we strictly adhere to the laws, as humanly possible.
By the way, I never forward an informational email unless I check the details out from a professional, legitimate source, or from sites such as SNOPES or TRUTHORFICTION. Sure, it takes a little effort, but after all, I care about what I send out to people. Besides that, it makes me feel good to know the TRUTH and not hearsay. I’m not the kind of person who flippantly forwards internet gossip in the place of real news.
This is precisely why I felt compelled to take the extra time to post this for you..
