It’s generally a good idea to learn more; whether its passion or interest. As professionals, we desire learning. It enables us to further develop our careers, to get that raise or to move up to the next level. Thankfully for the internet and its wealth of information, there is an information overload these days. This is good and bad because with all this data, there is definitely a whole bunch of crap. I’ve found some interesting resources for better learning and higher education for free.

Free Education Resources

I never thought about it until I read this article about Salman Khan, but YouTube is not just for funny clips to share among peers. Although I’ve seen tutorials on how to use software applications or videos the wife shared with me from make up application to cooking tips; I never thought of YouTube for this. Interestingly enough, I now think the potential is endless and will search more thoroughly from now on. You too can do the same.

iTunes is another unexpected find. If you log onto the Apple iTune’s store and search a subject, there will be podcasts, videos and transcripts on the subject. Some from individual experts or gurus sharing their knowledge. Others are actual established institutions offering their courses in audio or video format from their professors.

Another obvious learning tool is using Wikipedia. Good information but may not always be accurate because after all, it is community driven and some content is subjective. Nonetheless, it gives you a brief overview on any subject as well as another perspective. It is likely the gateway to further in-depth research.

In a more traditional approach, universities like MIT have put up courses online from the past so you can actually take part in a course from lectures to exercises. Not bad if you ask me on the quality of what is available for those that thirst for knowledge.

Finally, when was the last time you stepped foot into your local library? Probably not in a long time. Kids have an entirely different experience growing up today. Still, the local library is one free education resource to take advantage of. At least in my city, the public library shares a book database that is robust and can deliver and hold a book for me.

Education is everywhere. Launch a browser and go to Google and type in a question. You’ll find answers, although, most of the content resources are brief or inaccurate. But that is just the first step. With the above mentioned resources, your on your way to learning at a high level for free.

Do you agree that learning is much more accessible and you just need to dedicate the time for it? Also, there is definitely an overload of information but if you use the right resources, you’ll gain a healthy education and benefit from learning above all else, for free. Can’t beat that in this economy, right?

The success of Apple is an amazing story, isn’t it? I have yet to own an actual Apple Macintosh Computer and probably won’t for awhile. But, it used to be that it was all about the PC. There was no room for Apple and its Macintosh computers in my book.

However, if I count up the Apple devices I’ve owned, I’ve gone through an iPod Mini, a standard iPod and then an iPhone. Seems like all their products are standard and the must have items of the new millennium. But what does the future hold for Apple with its iPad set to be released come April 2010?

From iPhone to iMat?

Here are some pictures that hypothesizes the trend.

Steve Jobs showing off the iPhone. Look at what it has become today and how it has changed the mobile platform.

Steve Jobs announcing the upcoming iPad. Hmm, just an oversized iPhone? I think so but with stripped capabilities. No HDMI, no camera, no alot…

Look at all the surface space; you can cram about 100 apps on the screen. This is wonderful!

Every living needs it. I bet you can set the App icons to be different solid colors and play interactive twister.

So what do you think? Is it plausible? Of course it is; because anything Apple with Steve’s stamp of approval is bound for greatness. And I can’t wait to own an iMat.

The urban thug, you’ll probably never encounter one unless you live in one of the major cities across the United States. Its definition at the urban dictionary comes in a variety of flavors but for the most part, its about struggles. In this post, I think the struggle would be the difficult an urban thug has in keeping his pants waist level.

Anatomy of the Urban Thug

A common stereotype of the urban thug is the way they dress and compose themselves in public. If you have seen or met one in person, either from afar or a close distance, you can tell. Particularly the way an urban thug chooses to wear their pants where it looks as if they are purposely sagging it.

But in this exclusive artist rendition of an urban thug, its not they are purposely sagging their pants. It is in fact they are genetically different from common folks. Their entire anatomy is peculiarly different. But is this artist correct?

Take a look below:

The Myth Uncovered?

Logically, this cannot be possible, can it? A man with a extremely short legs and a elongated upper body. But then, why else would an urban thug have pants sagging so slow? It not only prevents one from running away from the police but it can be said many activities can be much more difficult if you your pants are half way down.

Experts chime in with a photo of a real urban thug and explains another possibility.

The Verdict

We will probably never know. Either the urban thug is genetically different or its actually two midgets stacked on top of each other. Both cases are plausible and we’ll leave it at that.

There is excitement to behold when you think of creating art through sand. Sand is one of earth’s minerals that is flexible and concrete at the same time. To build it into an amazing sculpture is a task that cannot be done easily.

I’ve built sand castles at the beach as a kid. Pouring sand into the bucket and adding a bit of water into it so the shape will hold. Dumping it out to create a small scaled tower, so to speak. Piling a bit more sand in my hands and damping it with water to shape it into a mold. You can relate.

Deviant Art

This sand sculpture created is beyond anything I’ve seen. I’ve seen sand castles and sand sculptures in the past but this one blows my mind. The sheer scale of it. It’s just intimidating. Add the demon faces creatively sculpted, this is an award winning piece of art!

Take a look at the rest of the pictures and you’ll see what I mean.

It’s been way too long and I already grow tired of either watching and finally playing the E3 demo for the upcoming God of War 3. At last, some new footage, albeit its in German. Nonetheless, it just makes me that much more excited. If this is how the game begins, it definitely sets the tone for what to expect in the God of War tradition where everything is epic.
